cleaning inside of a thermal lense
i recently bought a jt spectra flex 8 full head mask with the dual layer thermal lense
worked a charm first day when most others were fogging bad, inside lense was wet but never a hint of fog. made the mistake of cleaning the inside thermal lense and it smudged what must have been the thermal layering
played yesterday with the small smudge and fogged like crazy, tried cleaning inside and it smudged the rest of anti fog coating, had to be rough and rub it all off so i could see out of mask
did manage to get 99% of it off so lense was clear but fogs quite easily now, is there any way to get another layer of anti fog stuff?
or will i have to buy a new thermal lense?
cheers

Re: cleaning inside of a thermal lense
You can get antifog spray from a number of places. I use goggle anti fog spray used for swimming goggles. it works well. avalable from most sports stores. There are other options avalable, im sure others can let you in on were to go.

Re: cleaning inside of a thermal lense
Buy a new lens and use a Micro-Fiber Lens Cleaning cloth to clean the inside. Be very carefull and gentle.

Re: cleaning inside of a thermal lense
I use rain ex anti fog (buy from repco), but then I can remove my lense very easy and give them a really good clean and coating with anti fog, and my gogs do not fog after that.

Re: cleaning inside of a thermal lense
hey chap it sounds to me like you didnt peel the very fine protective layer from the inside of the lense befor use as dual layer lenses dont have an anti fog layer what causes foging in the dual layer lense is mosture between the layers this is easily solved by putting the lense in hot water cupboard foe a week or 2 jt lenses in particular have a heavy protective layer on the out side -remove b4 use and a very fine layuer on the inside -remove b4 use another good option is turttle wax - let dry b4 polishing of

Re: cleaning inside of a thermal lense
just had a look at mask, was definatly not a protective layer on outside or inside of lense.
had 2 round stickers on the lense one said thermal lense or something cant remember what the other one was
have tried peeling off whats left on the inside of the lense but no luck, cannot even feel it when rubbing finger over it
whatever it was on inside of lense was clear, once rubbed it smudged almost looked like nail polish or similar, once rubbed hard enough with water and cloth was all gone and the mask was clear once again
maybe i will inveest in a mask fan and if it still fogs buy a new lense aswell
